I got to film this music video with my amazingly talented boyfriend, Kamren Kennedy. We also worked on the single cover art together so it was so much fun to get to work on the video together as well. We originally choose Radnor Lake as the video location but later found a much better location, Percy Priest Lake. We went out to the lake to figure out exactly where we wanted to film the video about a week or two before the shoot.
My cowriter and I originally wrote this song about a relationship, but Kamren and I wanted the video to convey a larger message than that. I choose to center this video around the challenges I and so many other females in the country music genre face. This song is largely about being independent and choosing your own path in life. I think it can be very easy to let other people’s words and actions discourage you from following your dreams, but at the end of the day you just have to keep going and believe in yourself.
My makeup was done by Jordan Alexander and she absolutely killed it! I love neutral tones and I love love love gold so this look was perfect! I don’t usually wear this intense of a makeup look but I think it’s appropriate to go all out for music videos. This was also my first time ever wearing eyelashes (woah!). I was a little apprehesive about wearing them, but I’m so glad I did because it came across so well in the video.
The first look of the video was gifted from Glamm Boutique in my hometown Gardendale, AL. I had been searching everyone for leather pants and finally found them at Glamm. The purple vest is also from Glamm and it is the most comfiest vest I’ve ever worn! This outfit was perfect for the video! The second look is all from Forever 21 with the exception of the boots which were from TJ Maxx (Only $40 such a steal!!!). I looked everywhere for black high-waisted pants and finally found them at Forever 21. They only had one pair in my size y’all..It was definitely meant to be lol. I ordered the top off of the Forever 21 and prayed to God that I ordered the right size and thankfully I did!
Kamren shot this video all by himself but you can’t tell at all. He’s the most talented person I know and it was such an honor to get to shoot this video with him. He filmed this video so well it looks like he had a whole crew to help him! I’m so proud of him and everything he’s accomplished and I’m so glad I got to work on this video with him!
